May 9, 2004 John 13:31-35 [31] When he had left, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man is seen for who he is, and God seen for who he is in him. The moment God is seen in him, [32] God's glory will be on display. In glorifying him, he himself is glorifiedglory all around! [33] "Children, I am with you for only a short time longer. You are going to look high and low for me. But just as I told the Jews, I'm telling you: 'Where I go, you are not able to come.' [34] "Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. [35] This is how everyone will recognize that you are my discipleswhen they see the love you have for each other." [The Message] = = = = = = = 1. To glorify is to make visible the presence of GOD no more, no less. 2. Our search is not to find Jesus, but what Jesus glorified. To do more will be to idolize Jesus. To do less will discount his life that resulted in his death and proved stronger than said death. 3. Here then is glory for us: loving one another -- No more, no less. This reveals GOD. This reveals Jesus’ intention. This reveals our joining Jesus in this intention. This reveals evangelism at its most basic. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! a cheer to cheer our souls and the souls of others. Cheer on! |
