to a misfitting bed
stretching
cutting

 

misfortune
brings out latter-day
Procrusteans
judging suffering
blaming
excusing

 

profit
leads originalist
Procrusteans
demanding return
outsourcing
minimizing

 

imagine
a meeting between
Procrustes
and Narcissus
sons of water gods
never satisfied
forever satisfied

 

reflect
on your desire
for others
to be you
eternal change
eternal stasis

rooted wings

a domesticated fig tree
still yearns to fly
puts all its energy
into a dream

gazing at the sky
no fruit this year
or the next or next
desire blocks nature

wind blows bough
cradles will fall
but without soaring
no signifying is made

an experienced gardener
knows it's not wind
beneath wings that's needed
but attending to roots

want to fly?
suck manure and bless rain
behold! transformation
fruit enough for all
