we are so used to
a finding requiring
a loss
we lose track of
a finding
able to redefine any loss

manna is seen
as a finding after hunger
but still seems
a loss
in light of later
self-tended crops

property money reputation all
are so easily lost
a distraction
a slip
an entitlement
every mark missed

we slouch powerless
stubborn as a mule
with disappointed face
not admitting joy
until earned
found

such a common point of view
has much power to discourage
and roll over us
blocking a fore-giving
of reconciliation
between lost and found

a needed new creation
knows such reconciling
to have been going on forever
so no more appeal
to be found
we are
